Self-Reflection Cards

Imagery opens the door to self-exploration. In this deck, you intuitively pull cards and are asked questions about the artwork you see. Your answers give you new insights about your life, your relationships, your emotions, and your thoughts. It's a journey of personal growth that helps you quiet the noise of the outside world, find your center, seek wisdom from within, and build self-trust.

The deck contains 80 images of Pi Luna's original artwork. It comes with instructions and a pouch for easy storage.

Influences

Pi Luna had two primary influences in the deck's development: Socrates and Carl Jung.

Socrates was a Greek philosopher who taught through the process of questioning. By asking his students questions about their ideas, they gained a more robust understanding of why they thought what they thought and developed critical thinking skills. Pi used the Socratic method when she used to be a math tutor. Instead of showing the students how to do their homework, she would ask them questions. Based on their answers, she would ask follow-up questions until they deeply understood the process. They would tell her, "I love how you explain things." Ironically, she hadn't explained a thing. They did all the work. The deck is a way to apply the same technique using artwork.

The second influence was Carl Jung. Our subconscious speaks in the language of symbolism and metaphor. By using imagery rich in archetypes, we can go beyond our rational minds and access the wisdom of our subconscious mind.

About the Artwork

It took Pi over 10 years to create the artwork for the deck. During that time, her process evolved. She originally started as an oil painter. Due to sensitivities to the chemicals in the paint, she switched to acrylic and mixed media. Pi experimented with lots of different styles until she discovered paper. The deck has artwork from each stage of development in her artistic journey. Each style offers a diverse perspective and a distinct look and feel. Together, they create a kaleidoscope of images and perspectives that provide rich material for exploration.

What the Deck is Not:

The deck is not meant to be the tarot, an oracle deck, or a divination system. It's not meant to tell you your fortune or predict the future. Instead, it is a tool for self-exploration and inquiry. It's all about exploring what you think and feel about aspects of your life, and gaining new insights through this process.

Second Edition Updates:

Self-Reflection Cards was originally called the Deck of Mirrors. The title was changed to help clarify the purpose of the cards. The second edition has more artwork and includes many of Pi Luna's newer pieces. It also comes in a pouch for easier storage.
